Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn. It is an educational and experiential course that teaches meditation and gentle yoga as tools to support participants to lead healthier and more satisfying lives. Those who have participated in MBSR have found their lives profoundly enhanced by learning to live more completely within the reality of each moment. Major research has shown that mindfulness improves emotional and physical health, job performance and communication, and reduces conflict. It has been featured in technical and popular publications, such as Lancet, JAMA, Time, Newsweek, Oprah, and ABC News.

Program held at Forrestal Village Fitness, Princeton NJ 08540

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression
Pat Vroom, Ph.D.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression combines the clinical application of mindfulness meditation with the tools of cognitive therapy to help people who suffer from chronic depression to prevent relapse. MBCT teaches us to recognize the connections between negative thoughts and downward mood spirals, in order to take action to reconnect with life. The practice of mindfulness enables us to halt the escalation of negative thoughts and focus on the present moment. When we are able to do this, thoughts and moods are experienced in a new way and we discover choices where none were seen before.
